THE Australian Lure Expo is a celebration of Aussie lures and lure making. Old lures, new lures, timber lures, plastic lures, metal lures, spinnerbaits or custom lures it doesn't matter; if it's Aussie made, then this is the place to see them.
LURE OF THE YEAR AWARDS / HALL OF FAME
LURE OF THE YEAR
 

There will be an award for the Australian Lure Of The Year at the Australian Lure Expo in a few categories:

COMMERCIAL LURE

Criteria - This division is for commercial lure makers that sell their lures commercially, either direct to the public or on a wholesale basis.

  • Lure must swim
  • Lure must be Australian made & owned
  • Lure must be assembled and painted in Australia (no overseas lures re-painted in Australia)
  • Entries only accepted from exhibitors at the Australian Lure & Fly Expo
  • Lure must be a current design & available for public purchase

Include lure statistic: Length, width, weight, retail price (how much does it sell for?)

COTTAGE LURE

Criteria - This division is for hobbyists or amateur lure makers that do not sell lures commercially.

  • Lure must swim
  • Lure must be Australian made & owned
  • Lure must be assembled and painted in Australia (no overseas lures re-painted in Australia)
  • Entries only accepted from exhibitors at the Australian Lure & Fly Expo Expo to submit. Entries may be posted in prior to the expo.

BLADED LURE OF THE YEAR (NEW in 2015)

Criteria - This is for bladed or metal lures eg spinnerbait, chatterbait, spoon, blade, buzzbait, tail-spinner, ice jig etc

  • Lure must swim
  • Lure must be Australian made & owned
  • Lure must be assembled and painted in Australia (no imported lures)
  • Entries only accepted from exhibitors at the Australian Lure & Fly Expo.

Cost - Nothing to enter

* Note - Winning lures will be retained in a permanent Hall Of Fame. All other submitted lures must be collected by the owner before the close of the expo or they will ber raffled / auctioned. Non winning lures posted in will be posted back IF there is a self addressed, pre-paid postage included with lure/s.

MOST ARTISTIC FINISH (on usable lure)

Lures entered in this section should be a working lure (a lure that could be tied on & used) but have a custom paint job.

Criteria

  • Lure must be able to be used to catch fish
  • Lure may be a normal lure with a custom finish / paint job
  • Lure must be Australian made & owned
  • Lure must be assembled and painted in Australia (no overseas lures re-painted in Australia)
  • Entries only accepted from exhibitors at the Australian Lure & Fly Expo.
  • Lure does not have to be available for public purchase. May be a one off
ORNAMENTAL LURE

There will be an award for the Australian Lure Of The Year at the Australian Lure Expo

Criteria

  • Lure DOES NOT HAVE TO SWIM
  • Lure may be a normal lure with a special finish / paint job or lure may be mounted on a tree, piece of wood or plaque for example.
  • Lure must be Australian made & owned
  • Lure must be assembled and painted in Australia (no overseas lures re-painted in Australia)
  • Entries only accepted from exhibitors at the Australian Lure & Fly Expo
  • Lure does not have to be available for public purchase. May be a one off

Fugly Lures

All submissions should have some information about the lure with it.
Information can include:
- Construction material. example: red cedar, beech, poly eurathane etc
- Inspiration for the lure
- Name of the lure
- Name of the person who made it
- When the lure was designed and made
- Mention any persons who assisted in the design, making of this lure


Judging is by peer review from exhibitors at the expo. Each exhibitor will be provided a voting form.

Cost - Nothing to enter

* Note - All Winning lures (except Ornamental Lure) will be retained in a permanent Hall Of Fame. If you do not agree to this, you may not enter. All other non-winning lures must be collected by the owner before the close of the expo or they will be raffled / auctioned off.

BEST PRESENTED STAND
There will be an award for the Best Presented Stand

BEST PRESENTED COLLECTION
There will be an award for the Best Presented Collection display or cabinet at the Expo. No entry form required, if it's on display in the collectors area at the expo, it's included.

All award winners will be announced / presented at the Awards Dinner at the Exhibition Cente, Ipswich Showgrounds from 6:30pm, Saturday night.
